Only the music knows my story
Only the strings feel my pain
I am invisible to the real world
I am alive in your songs...

PRESENTING... BUD

BUD is idealistic. It aims to celebrate the identity of the Filipino: to criticize, to coddle, to praise.BUD revels in the Filipino identity, seeking not to condemn, but to elevate Filipino Literature to its own heights.BUD recognizes the beauty of the Filipino spirit and aims not to underline its relationships with other nationalities, cultures, or countries (because as we all know the Filipinos are everywhere and adapt very quickly) but to embrace these relationships as a minor part of our identity. It is not the essential factor in the Filipino experience and it is time that we Filipinos remember this.

BUD seeks to recreate the literary scene to be wholly Filipino as in the times of works like Noli Me Tangere.BUD will pull your arm to make you stand. It will shout in your face, until you shout “I AM FILIPINO. AND PROUD.”

BUD is the product of an over zealous honorary Filipino. And as such many works may be in English. But BUD will publish any poem, short story, essay or other literary work that its editors feel shows a direct relationship with their mission in English or Filipino (or any other dialect so long as it is possible to translate the work).BUD is a stage for Filipinos solely but welcomes works from honorary Filipinos who respect the Filipino heritage and identity.

BUD will give of itself freely to its readers so long as they correspond with its editors as often as possible. In turn, its readers must give freely that BUD may move.BUD welcomes any participation from its readers – poems, essays, criticisms; anything of relevance will be received with the greatest gratitude. There is no chance of payment however and the editors reserve the right to judge and publish the works received according to our own prejudice. And we will.

If you are so inclined, SEND MONEY.BUD has no pride (except in the Filipino) and will welcome any amount. But mostly, BUD wants you to read, to see, to think.

BUD is the writing on the wall.
